Overhead Crane and Rigging

Course Description

Overhead Crane and Rigging is a two-day interactive training program that covers the roles and responsibilities of the overhead crane operator. You’ll learn the ins and outs of overhead cranes to understand proper inspection, operation, and maintenance. Key topics for the operator will also be discussed including rigging means and methods, inspections, and special handling procedures. The course is a combination of class instruction as well as hands-on training to help you become a master in effective crane and rigging methods.

Course Content

INSPECTION DOCUMENTATION AND RECORD KEEPING REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent and periodic inspection requirements
  • Nomenclature, terminology, and selection of equipment

OPERATIONAL LIMITATIONS OF EQUIPMENT

  • Wire Rope, block, hook and latch, and controls maintenance
  • Accident causes and prevention

ASME B30.2 HAND SIGNALS AND COMMUNICATION

  • Rigging means and methods/load management
  • Special hoisting and rigging – engineered lifts

HANDS-ON RIGGING SELECTION, INSPECTION, USE AND CRANE LOAD HOISTING AND OPERATION
